Mid-Range:

Bella Vista Bar & Bistro & Takeaway, Standhill 071 9122222 – Good food, family friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Kids specials from €4-00 including homemade chicken goujons and chips, sausage and chips and kids pizzas. Hearty breakfasts from ca. 10am. Run by Mark and Connie – friends of ours.

Hargadons Pub, O’Connell Street Sligo – our current favourite place to eat out…excellent gastro-pub food for lunch and dinner with fresh oysters, mussels, duck, salads etc.., no need to book and fantastic value and great wine list. Also one of Sligo’s most atmospheric pubs.. a real must try !!! Just voted Irish Pub of the Year 2011 by Georgina Campbell !! www.hargadons.com

Shells Café – seafront at Strandhill…great coffee, home baking, fresh home –cooked food like fresh salads, seasonal specials, fab home made fish and chips. Run by Myles and Jane – friends of Fred.

Osta Cafe, Sligo centre. Great coffees – organic salads, pastries, hearty soups etc..

Source - Sligo city centre. Offers organic locally sourced food in a modern yet comfortable restaurant setting with wine bar and cookery school.

The Venue Pub & Seafood/European Restaurant, Strandhill - Good seafood, steaks etc,kids meals.. no need to book.

Davis’s Restaurant at Yeat Tavern, Drumcliff…good place to try if you are visiting Yeat’s Grave, Ben Bulben and Lissadell and good for all the family.
Paprika – Indian take-away and sit in restaurant on Pearse Road, Sligo. Run by Isral a friend of Fred’s.

Medium-High Range:

Montemarte French Restaurant, Market Yard, Sligo - Authentic French style, good wine selection and very reasonable. Fred’s favourite restaurant in town!

Coach Lane at Donaghy’s, Lord Edward Street, Sligo 071 9162417 – Good food, most popular in town but very busy and expensive for the area

Poppadom, O’Connell Street, Sligo 071 9147171 – Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, good Indian food.
